PROGRESS REPORT ON THE AWANA-SOHG BIBLE TEACHING PROGRAMME I wish to extend warm greetings to the Star of Hope family all around the world with special appreciation to our dear Supporters. May God richly bless you for your labor of love to the poor and the underprivileged.
We continue with the AWANA Bible teaching to the children, their interests are at an all-time high, they enjoy the bible stories, they are curious about things of God, and ask a lot of interesting questions. Our theme for the month of August is one living a life for God. We led them to understand that most of the time friends put pressure on us to live life that we genuinely do not like because our moral upbringing and teaching at our Sunday school do not allow us to do so, but because we want to be accepted by friends and the fear of ridicule and rejection, we abandon all these good characters and follow the bad ones. Those traits usually lead us into disgrace and disappointment with our parents and loved ones. We cited an example of the story of Shadrach Meshach and Abednego in Daniel Chapter 3 of the Bible. These young men set themselves to please only God and were ready to face all ridicule and punishments for not following what is popular behavior in those times. They were firm and resolute in their faith and were not ashamed or intimidated in any way. We taught them to desist from living a life of rebellion, rudeness, disrespect, disobedience, and sinfulness just to please other people and be accepted by their peers.
Our bible memory verse was taken from Psalm 1:6 which reads ‘For the Lord knows the ways of the righteous but the way of the ungodly shall perish’. Several interesting were asked and we attempted to give them the best answers according to their level. A boy in Pechi Project asked what he should do when all his friends decide to do something he feels is wrong but if he does not take part they will not play with him again but he loves playing with them. I told them that, in that instance, he should not only say no but also explain to them why they should not do it and if they insist on doing it, he should leave them alone and go away from them and if they persist in doing wrong things then he should look for new friends because they would soon lead him into trouble. I encouraged him that he should be firm and stand up for Jesus by saying no to sin. We continue to enjoy grace here and hope that you are also enjoying the same.
We are grateful for your support.
God bless and keep you all. Thank you. ISAAC NII ADJIN LARTEY (AWANA Bible Teaching Coordinator)
